IGY Sells an Astonishing 380 Marina Berths in Just Three Weeks
11 Apr 2007Premier worldwide marina developer experiences unprecedented levels of demand for its Anchor Marina project on The Palm Jumeirah
Dubai, UAE (April 11, 2007): Island Global Yachting (IGY), the premier worldwide developer of luxury marinas, has revealed that it has sold a staggering 380 berths for its Anchor Marina project situated on The Palm Jumeirah. The announcement by IGY is all the more impressive considering the developmental stage of Anchor Marina.
The achievement by IGY is an unequivocal success in a nascent Middle Eastern marina market. However, despite the fledging nature of the market, the global marina developer, which has offices in prime locations such as New York, Fort Lauderdale and Dubai, has capitalised on its international expertise and experience to demonstrate its abilities and the potential for marina development in the region. IGY’s activities have led to prospective customers purchasing in their droves, demonstrating the strength of the market in Dubai, complimented by regular sales from as far a field as Europe.
The announcement follows on from IGY’s successful profiling exercise at last month’s Dubai Boat Show, which reiterated the opportunity the Emirate has in establishing itself as a core global yachting destination. The subsequent demand and purchase of IGY’s Anchor Marina berths is unprecedented.
“The demand and sheer volume of sales for the berths on Anchor Marina are simply astounding and it really demonstrates the potential held within the market in Dubai. However, it also shows that IGY can finally provide the ultimate luxury experience that yacht owners around the world have been seeking in the Emirate, said Ralf Heron, CEO, IGY Middle East. “IGY sees the success of Anchor Marina as an opportunity to catalyse the development of Dubai in becoming the third warm water yachting destination alongside the Caribbean and the Mediterranean.”
IGY utilizes its design, engineering, management and marketing expertise to benefit waterfronts around the world. Based on the organization’s ability to raise marina standards to five-star style levels of quality and with participation in over 300 marinas in three different continents, IGY has been appointed as the exclusive designer, developer and manager for all of Nakheel’s marina properties.
Anchor Marina represents one of the most important developments in coordination with Nakheel as it is one of a rare handful of marinas on The Palm Jumeirah. With the design process now completed, the development of the marina is underway. The marina’s berths will provide private yachts between 10 and 30 metres in length, modern infrastructural elements such as spacious concrete pontoons in conjunction with some of the most modern technology available to boat owners, including LED illumination, underwater lighting, wireless internet connections and bespoke concierge services.
From the islands of the Caribbean to azure waters of the Arabian Gulf and other beautiful yachting destinations around the world, IGY is redefining the very idea of luxury marina experiences. Founded in 2005 by Andrew L. Farkas, IGY focuses on acquiring, controlling and/or servicing luxury-yacht marinas and the surrounding upland real estate properties. Island Global Yachting marinas operate under the signature Yacht Haven Grande collection and the IGY series brands, as well as several private labels. Headquartered in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, IGY also has offices in New York, NY; St. Thomas, USVI; and Dubai, UAE. For more information, please visit www.igymarinas.com.
